I DID IT!
I did it!!! I qualified for 2021 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship!
I got a slot through the additional 50 Women for Tri qualifying spots at IM 70.3 St. George. Due to covid, the roll-downs are currently conducted electronically and I got the email yesterday!
Throughout all of crazy 2020 and 2021 I’ve kept my enthusiasm up and training for this day. It was the only goal that I could control during a global pandemic. When I came back from Utah I was so fucking disappointed in my age-group classification that I didn’t even consider getting a slot with the roll-down. So I did what I know best, get back on the horse and don't give up on your goals.
I immediately signed up for the next available race that was still open and had slots for World Champs. I typically select races based on location as these motivates me during training. But for this race, I didn’t fucking care where it was. My motivation was only one thing only: qualify. So I signed up for IM 70.3 Lubbock in Texas end of June.
Now that I have qualified, my plan for IM 70.3 Lubbock has not changed. I am actually super excited for Texas with new fresh goals and going to race without the pressure.
Moral of this story, never give up on your dreams, no matter how disappointed you are. Keep running to a goal that fires YOU up. Keep taking small steps each day. It takes guts to take them but fucking take them.
To my number one sherpa, Jimmie, and my friends and family that always believed in me and gave me a shoulder to cry on and all the advice in the world, thank you for helping me get here. I wouldn't be here without you.
Worlds here I come!
