MISSING LINK TO RACE FEARLESS
Last week, I packed my fiat and drove to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Bedford, Virginia for an adventure. My adventure was 5 days attending a Cycle Power Camp from Peaks Coaching Group, which let me tell you, this camp was totally out of my comfort zone and exactly what I needed. Thank you so much Adam from STM Cycling for suggesting that I attend this camp!
Five days of camp was all it took, to awaken a new desire and understanding on how to unleash my 2020 fitness goals as a triathlete. Along these 5 days I also met the most kind, wise, thoughtful, humble and endearing new friends and coaches lead by Hunter Allen, the OG of Power. At this very moment, I feel an immense wave of happiness. An awakening, an expansion for MORE, more faith, more believing, and more trusting in numbers.
I was so inspired by my journey at camp, that in the last hour of our power workshop with Hunter, I signed up for IRONMAN St. George, in Utah May 2020. This will be my 3rd full distance triathlon (2.4 swim, 112 bike, 26.2 run) and I am approaching this race from a complete different training strategy designed by using power and heart rate. Two metrics that I have ignored ALL my life and after attending camp, I truly believe they are the missing link in order for me to race completely fearless!
A big thank you to all the coaches at Peaks Coaching Group (PCG). You are all in the business of fulfilling dreams through numbers and connection. It is very rare to met coaches that can do both and you ALL are amazing humans! Thank you Lee Sandstead for connecting me with my new coach Dean Phillips on the last day of camp! I think you are right, we are a perfect match. Cannot wait to work with my new coach to see how far and fast I can get cross that finish line.
I always cross the finish line for those that can’t, like my father that killed himself… I cross it for him and I cross it for myself to feel alive. When you push your body to the limit, you always discover and learn something new for yourself. I personally cannot wait to cross it together with PCG’s methods of power and heart rate!
